Birthday CASE

I loved the layout of this card (originally created by Danielle Lounds), and while I liked her colors, I wanted a masculine feeling, so I changed up my colors. The tab on the right is punched with the slit punch and the 1/8" circle punch so the ribbon could be pulled through.

I also recently learned something from my stampers about tying ribbon. Previously I'd just relied on good luck and my knots had gone okay. But several of my club members kept saying "right over left, left over right" and with that tactic, you get a nice, flat knot.

Spec-tag-ular

I got tagged by a green blogger (who happens to be related to me) recently, and I'm just now feeling up to coming out of my shell a bit and socialize.

The rules for this are:
~ Link to the blogger that tagged you: Cheap Like Me.
~ Post the rules on your blog.
~ Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself.
~ Tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs.
~ Let each random person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website.

Hmm. Six unimportant things.

  1. I appear to be addicted to Coke Zero and am SO excited that (at least) our local Outback Steakhouse will soon carry it as a standard (although reportedly the machine is still working through the Root Beer, and it isn't a recommended option just yet).
  2. The only reason I really like my husband to leave town on business is so that I can drive to work (rather than taking Light Rail). I would never want to drive every day, but when I get to, it's such a treat - especially now that we have our little Mini Cooper. So fun.
  3. I'm a mostly reformed nail-biter, but still consider my thumb nails as my "backup" because when I'm reading (if it's a really good book), I can't help it sometimes. So I bite my thumb nails because they grow the fastest. Lame, I know.
  4. I can't open my newly delivered Girl Scout cookies, because I'm afraid I'll eat the whole box in one sitting. Then I'll get a sugar headache, and I'll be cranky ... etc. I should probably take those cookies to work (and foist them off on others).
  5. I've been known to wear jeans to work (on a non-casual Friday - sometimes even mid-week, and NOT on a snow day), because if I don't I just don't think I can go. Is that abuse of my seniority/tenure?
  6. I love watching Ellen DeGeneres dance on her show. It just makes me happy.
Six random bloggers eh?
  1. I can't pick! If you're a blogger, and you read my blog, consider yourself tagged!

A is for Audrey

I'm so far behind in posting! I can't/won't say much in this public forum, but I've been in a creativity-busting stretch of life. Fortunately, this piece was created for a friend's baby shower earlier this month. Baby Audrey is expected to make an appearance at the end of March. In addition to a couple of traditional baby gifts, I wanted to make something personalized for the baby's wall or door.

I picked up a large letter at Hobby Lobby, and decorated it with some 3-d baby shoes, flowers, a metal "dream" tag, bugs (cute ones though), Audrey's name, primas and brads and some fun striped paper.

Then to wrap up the gift, I picked out some cheery pastel papers with a bright, modern twist. The dots on the paper were patterned (and just happened to match the retired cheesecloth Stampin' Up! background stamp).

I made a card to go with each package (in case they got separated during the gift opening process).

Thanks for looking, and I'll try to post more often in days to come - creativity willing, of course! :)

Slow and steady to the party ...

I'll keep this entry short and sweet! I have a baby present to show you, but can't until after tomorrow when I'll give it to my friend, Janet at her shower. So, in the meantime ...

This card was my contribution to our stamping opportunity night. The colors are all inspired by the colors in the Bali Breeze paper. The turtle is from a current level 3 hostess set - I was so excited to earn a level 3! Especially when I had my eye on this set from the start.

The dots are glittery - of course - and the colors are so bright and cheerful. I just love this card!
